I came across a very unfortunate accident at Ross' Cove on my way home from the Pumpkin Festival this afternoon. A fishing vessel loaded with wild Albacore tuna was grounded on the reef at Pillar Point. When I arrived the captain and his crew of friends were working hard to assist in the cleanup; Fish and Game and County Park Rangers were also on the scene.
After being given a fish I tied my red silk scarf around the tail of the tuna, hiked up the bluff to my bike and hooked it over my right handlebar. We will clean it in the morning. The birds will eat what was left on the beach.
Hopefully the capsized vessel can be salvaged.
